Bio:

B.S. in biology State University of New York College at Fredonia, M.S. & Ph.D. North Carolina State University, postdoctoral fellowship at Woods Hole oceanographic Institution, Professor  at Stony brook University until 2000.  Research is carried out on marine microbial ecology and phytoplankton physiology. Research in the past decade has involved the influence of the Amazon River outflow on C & N cycling in the Equatorial Atlantic Ocean, ocean acifification effects on calcifying marine microorganisms, microbial ecology of Antarctic Dry Valley glacial melt water streams, nitrogen fixation by marine cyanobacteria and plastic pollution of the oceans.
