Multilayered Worm Compost Bin

Acceptable Foods

This is an alternative to building a large single/double section compost bin.  Instead, this unit utilizes smaller compost boxes stacked one on top of another, each with a wire grating beneath it.

The idea is the worms will work through the compost in one tray more efficiently than a large bin, producing compost that can be used more quickly.  In addition to this, the worms will then migrate to the fresh compost tray above, enabling the lower tray to be removed and used immediately!  No sifting through to get the worms out, and unlike a larger bin, the small space allows the worms to work through all the food, rather than leaving areas of swampy compost untouched.

      This box rocks!

  • It's in pieces, and each piece is smaller than a huge compost bin, therefore easier to clean.
  • Smaller bins that allow worms to migrate means you can tell sooner when worm castings are ready to use!
  • It's designed to drain liquids into a container.  This liquid is compost tea, which is rich in minerals -- a liquid fertilizer!  All you have to do is collect and use, instead of having this liquid mash into the bedding of the bin.
  • It can easily fit indoors!
