Perform data collection and analysis on high-technology
military research projects related to human-computer interaction in such areas
as military training systems, high-fidelity distributed interactive
simulations, and virtual reality. Hired
as adjunct research staff member after three highly successful summers as Ph.D.
intern working on military training system projects. Chosen as Test Director for $1,000,000 VR
military training experiment measuring utility of biological warfare detection
system.
Institute

Research
Staff Member, Summer Intern, 6/1994-10/1994 and 5/1995-8/1995
Worked first summer with senior research staff members
at government military thinktank on projects relating to distributed
interactive simulation, including innovative methods for displaying
real/simulated wargame participants and real-time battlefield information. Did initial research leading to dissertation
topic on fidelity/bandwidth relationship to user interface utility. Wrote research grant for, and was asked back
to do research during second and third summer on interface characteristics
versus utility.
