AAC and Early Intervention
The fieldwork or practicum component of the project is the core experience that integrates Trainees' knowledge and skill to apply AAC with a young child and family. Trainees are required to complete an extensive fieldwork experience with one child over an extended period, typically two semesters to complete AAC assesssment and intervention that may include prelinguistic, low-tech and high-tech methods to support communication and language development with a child in the birth to five year age range. Resources to plan, develop and to implement AAC in early intervention are included below as documents, lists of websites and research articles. In addition, Trainees are invited to use the AAC Lab in Burk Hall 137 to check out equipment and to make materials.
