My current projects include the bioarachaeological investigations of two important sites: the skeletal population from the Vineyards site (4CCO548) and the skeletal population from the David Davis Farm Site (40HA301).  The Vineyards site represents a pivotal occupation and burial site from the Middle Archaic period of Central California.  Dates for the site span a time period from 7550 BC to 550 BC.  Current investigations include the examination of demography, general health indicators, and biological distance compared to other Central California sites.  The David Davis Farm site is a Late Mississippian village which was occupied for a fifty-year period around AD 1550.  The site is one of the likely stopping points for the de Soto entrada of 1539-1543.  Current investigations include the examination of dental health and biological distance compared to other regional populations.

I am also the director of the Bioanthropology Laboratory.  The SFSU Bioanthropology Laboratory has completed the human remains portions of numerous NAGPRA compliance inventories not only for SFSU but also other local agencies.  The SFSU Bioanthropology Laboratory offers consulting services to public and private organizations in the excavation and/or analysis of recent and archeological human remains.
