Serpentine

Serpentine has a sheet silicate structure and is found in metamorphic rocks. Serpentine is formed principally from hydrothermal alteration of ultra-mafic rocks. While this form of serpentine is non-hazardous, the fibrous form of serpentine is known as asbestos.
