Pyrite’s common name is Fool’s Gold — it is the most abundant of the sulfide minerals. Pyrite has a cubic crystal structure and a characteristic dark gray streak. Pyrite is found commonly in igneous and sedimentary rocks and with hydrothermal alteration of some rocks.
