Mission Statement
The mission of the California Academic and Research Libraries, Diversity in Academic Libraries Interest Group is to advocate equality and diversity, primarily for racial/ethnic communities but also other diverse populations, within the library profession and within academic libraries. This commitment is reflected in the efforts of the Interest Group in the following areas: 1) the recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented people of color to the library profession and to academic libraries specifically; 2) the sponsoring of educational efforts to heighten racial/ethnic sensitivity and diversity awareness, and 3) to ensure that the association's organization, strategic plans, standards, programs, and activities reflect the interests of equity for traditionally underserved populations in academic libraries.
