Thanks to the initiative and energy of Mardi Chalmers of the CSU Monterey Bay Library, a Northern California DIAL Interest Group was reactivated last year and held its first meeting on July 30, 2004. We have benefited from the advice and support of the DIAL South Interest Group and have just concluded the process of determining whether to be one state-wide group with a single set of bylaws or to be two distinct interest groups. For geographical and other reasons, both groups agree that we should continue to work together but to develop individual bylaws, officers, and missions. In the next year, DIAL North will focus on developing both programming and bylaws.
