Bio for Kathleen Ferenz

Kathleen Ferenz works as an independent consultant for the Educational Outreach Division at the Library of Congress and as an Apple training consultant for a wide variety of K-12 projects across the United States and recently in China and Korea and a Google Certified Teacher. She worked for 4 years for the California Department of Education Technology Assistance Project (CTAP IV) as a technology specialist for San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Ms Ferenz is a curriculum development specialist and works with teachers in developing inquiry oriented classroom curriculum. She also specializes in teaching English as a second language, social studies, and library media. She has over 12 years of experience as a university lecturer in graduate college of educational technology at San Francisco State University. She is very passionate about curriculum development and innovative delivery strategies for today’s 21st century classroom.

Ms Ferenz has had the opportunity to teach at nearly every grade level in her teaching career. In 1996 she was selected as a Fulbright exchange teacher. In 1997 she was selected as a Fellow to the National Digital Library at the Library of Congress and for several years worked with this division of the library as professional development consultant. More recently, she has worked closely with Calisphere, the University of California digital library archive and the University of California Irvine history project in curriculum and professional development for K12 librarians and teachers. In 1999, Ferenz was selected as Project Director for Schools for a New Millennium from the National Endowment for the Humanities with Fremont High in Sunnyvale and partnered with Stanford University. In 2001 she received the Golden Torch Award from San Francisco State for her work in educational technology.

Ms. Ferenz has lived and studied in Europe and speaks, Italian (bilingual), Greek, French, and Spanish. She has a Bachelor’s in Political Science, a Master’s in Instructional Technologies, and a Master’s in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University. She currently is a regular San Francisco State University lecturer for courses in the Instructional Technologies Master’s program.
