COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Developing the actor's free and responsive voice. Exercises and the performance of simple texts are used to develop the full range of voice and its coordination with body
and emotion.

COURSE CONTENT:

This is an acting class with an emphasis on Voice: Vocal skills and vocal creativity. The goal of this course is to free, strengthen and use the voice as an integral part of the actor's being:

Voice, body, mind, emotion and soul. We seek to find connection then release. We will begin by exploring alignment, breath, release of sound, resonance, articulation and projection. We will develop an awareness of the inner/natural voice and we will free the channel for sound.

By working with various voice techniques, we will release and unite the body and voice - readying the actor's instrument for true and energized expression. We will focus on listening, building ensemble pieces with sound and text. We will sing / move / act / improvise and design with voice. We will then incorporate speech work by applying our techniques to monologues and other shorter pieces.
