Disability Definitions
Non-ambulatory disabilities -
Impairments, regardless of cause of manifestation, that for all practical
purposes confine individuals to wheelchairs.
Semi-ambulatory disabilities -
Impairments that cause individuals to walk with difficulty or insecurity
and with the assistance of mechanical aids: prosthetic devices, metal
braces, artificial limbs, canes, walkers, crutches.
Disability Definitions
Sight disabilities -
total blindness or impairments affecting sight to the extent that the
individual is insecure or exposed to danger.
Hearing disabilities -
deafness or hearing handicap that might make an individual insecure
because s/he is unable to communicate or hear warning signals.

Aging disabilities -
those manifestations of the aging process that significantly reduce
mobility, flexibility, coordination, and perceptiveness.
Developmental disabilities -
Impairments attributable to conditions that impair general intellectual
functioning, coordination, or adaptive behavior (e.g., cerebral palsy,
epilepsy, autism, learning disabilities or mental retardation)
