Refereed paper submissions
Competitive papers and cases, as well as proposals for symposia, discussion panels or workshops are invited. Submissions will be double-blind peer-reviewed, acceptance being based on quality and relevance. A select group of submissions will be considered for publication in the Journal of International Business and Economy.

Awards
Awards will be given to the best competitive paper and the best case study based upon the recommendation of a committee of reviewers. Papers based upon dissertations are encouraged.

Submission Procedure and Requirements
Contributions should be submitted via e-mail to Bruce Heiman: heiman@sfsu.edu as an attachment in Microsoft Word for Windows format (.doc--NOT .docx or PDF PLEASE), before or on October 16, 2009. Submissions should be double spaced with one-inch (2.5cm) spacing all-around (top, bottom, left, right margins). Emerging Markets in an Interdependent World: European Union Expansion

&

The Future of Globalization:
Challenges and Opportunities in the Current Economic Environment

Rapid changes in the global economy present continuing challenges for educators, as well as for business and government leaders. The political and economic rules are changing due to ever stronger regional cooperation, the advent of e-business, the changing roles among nations, and challenges in corporate behavior and governance.

Strategic alliances span political, sectoral and geographical borders. The objective of this conference is to provide a forum for scholars analyzing the challenges faced by firms, governments, institutions, & individuals in the global arena. In addition, cross-disciplinary submissions are encouraged which address issues in education, training, health care, human rights, the environment, and sustainability.

Manuscripts derived from recent dissertation and/or ABD work are also encouraged, as are cases which may either be designed for instructional purposes (teaching cases) or informational purposes (descriptive case studies).

Examples of Ways to Participate

We welcome proposals for special session topics, panel discussions, papers and/or cases from scholars focusing on challenges and issues presented by the ever increasing interdependency among world economies.

- Organizational behavior management

- Global aspects of business law, ethics, taxation, management styles, social responsibility.

- Health Management Issues: worldwide impact & domestic issues

- Human resources strategies

- International marketing of services, tourism & hospitality management

- Marketing in consumer/industrial sectors

- Evolution and expansion of international marketing

- International entry/expansion strategies

- Transfer/reverse transfer of technology

- Cross-cultural/-national consumer behavior

- International logistics of supply & purchasing

- Innovations in operations management systems and technology

- Management information or decision support systems in the global arena

- International finance, insurance and real estate

- Joint or cooperative ventures; FDI

- International accounting

- Multinational business management strategies

- Cultural differences in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology management

- National, regional and multilateral policies in trade and investment

- Impact and operation of international agencies &/or international legislation.

Note: Papers are blind reviewed by at least two (sometimes 3) independent reviewers. The Program Chair makes any close calls. Final submissions for Proceedings are generally expected within two months after presentation at the annual conference. Papers NOT presented at the conference are not eligible for inclusion in the Proceedings. The Proceedings are published on CD-Rom generally six months after the annual conference, and are mailed to conference participants.
