I am in the process of restoring to operating condition a wonderful TMC rig (Technical Materiel Corporation of Mamaroneck, New York)
for AM contacts on the amateur radio band of 75 meters, specifically 3870, 3880, and 3885 kHz--long-standing popular frequencies for AMers.

The ATS-2 system consisted of a 40-lb, weatherproof, motorized antenna tuner that was designed to be mounted at the base of a 35-foot
vertical antenna with radials, an antenna coupler installed near the transmitter, and a rack-mounted control monitor with a large SWR meter.

We have an 18-panel array of solar panels on our roof, and it occurred to me that its 30-foot by 9-foot aluminum structure might be a natural,
very effective radial system. I did not want to stress this structure--or in any way endanger the solar panels--so I chose the 31-foot, 5-lb.
Sv9 vertical antenna to mount in the middle of the solar array with the ATS-2 antenna tuner placed
just below the antenna sheltered from the weather by the panels as shown above. The coaxial RF cable and the 10-wire control cable are about 60 feet
long from the roof to the desktop control monitor. The ATS-2 combined with the Sv9 works great on 40 meters and 20 meters, but tuning this system
is slow because the controller does not have a calibrated dial for returning to optimized settings. Nonetheless, I enjoy using this classic tuner.
