First California Conference on Chinese Pedagogy (Summer 2008)
This first conference was a warm-up year to mark interest of a common ground and our effort for prosperity in the future.
It was held during the 34th annual professional confernce of Southern California Council for Chinese Schools at Chapman University, Orange County, California, July 5, 2008. During this time, Dr. H. Lin Domizio served as the Program Advisor and Teacher Training Workshop Conductors of the U.S. government funded StarTalk Good Will Program. She took the opportunity to organize this conference with the help of Ms. Yihfen Sun of Mandarin Trainng Center (NTNU), jointly with the assistance of SCCCS. Thanks to Mr. Robert Yang and Mr. David Wu sponsored this conference.
The purpose of this conference was to provide an occusion for intellectual and professional exchanges among those who have passion and interest in Chinese Pedagogy.
The major participants were a group of graduate students from abraod and from U.S. and a group of dedicated Chinese teachers in Chinese heritage school communities in southern California.
There were a total of 25 papers received. A total of 21 presentors accomplished a very rigorous test with a great success: each presenter must articulate his/her review of literature, methodology of research, discussion and conclusion all within a total of 10 minutes. Bravo to you all!
We have Dr. Tianwei Xie, Yumei Kwoh, Ruohmei Hsieh and Hsiu-huei Lin Domizio on board as panel Chair/discussants. The Conference opened up with a warmest remark by President Robert Yang and concluded by Dr. H. Lin Domizio's recognition and encouragement for each presentor of this conference.
