Orientation and Mobility Program

Dr. Sandra Rosen, Program Coordinator
Dr. Rosen serves as the faculty advisor for the program. She is internationally known for her work in the areas of orientation & mobility, physical disabilities and sensorimotor development.

Dr. Amanda Hall-Lueck, Associate Professor
Dr. Lueck teaches general courses in visual impairment including courses on educational, medical, and rehabilitative implications of visual impairment, and multiple disabilities. She is known for her specialization in low vision.

Ms. Wendy Scheffers, Lecturer
Ms. Scheffers teaches the basic mobility methods course. She works part-time for the Marin County Office of Education as a teacher of the visually impaired and certified O&M specialist. Ms. Scheffers specializes in low vision mobility and is nationally known for her work on intersection analysis and street crossing skills for blind and low vision travelers.

Ms. Kathryn Kelly, Lecturer
Ms. Kelly is a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor licensed by the State of California since 1983. She is Manager of the Apprentice Instructor Program at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., overseeing and developing staff educational programs, as well as supervising both dog training and client instruction.

Ms. Stacey Ellison, Lecturer
Ms. Ellison is a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor at Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael, CA. In 1988, she graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has worked for fifteen years with blind and vision-impaired clients at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc.. For the past eight years, she's been a Training-Class Supervisor overseeing both dog training and student instruction. Additionally, she's helped develop and write the current Foster Care Manual that volunteers use when caring for Guide Dog program dogs.

Ms. Lori Cassels, Lecturer
Ms. Cassels teaches orientation and mobility/guide dog mobility courses. She works for Guide Dogs for the Blind as an O & M specialist. Ms. Cassels is certified as an Orientation and Mobility /Low Vision Specialist and is a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. She specializes in training for paraprofessionals and has 25 years experience both in education and rehabilitation for persons with visual impairments.
