The following is a list of described genera for the family Rhinonyssidae. Although a large number of generic names have been proposed, most workers agree with Domrow (1969) and consider the group to consitst of eight genera: Sternostoma, Ptilonyssus, Ruadndanyssus, Rhinoecius, Larinyssus, Rallinyssus, Rhinonyssus, and Tinaminyssus.
