The 4MAT System was developed by Bernice McCarthy in 1972 in order to help teachers plan their curriculum according to the different ways that people learn.
Two major premises in the 4MAT System:
- People have major learning styles and right mode/left mode preferences.
- Designing instructional models that cater to these different learning styles can improve teaching and learning.
