Experiential Learning

Different from behavioral theories of learning, rationalist and other cognitive theories of learning, experiential learning theory sets up its specific perspective on learning. This school of theory views learning as a continuous process of adaptaion to the environment. In that process, human not only reactively adapts to the physical and social environment but also proactively creates and shapes the world. Furthermore, learning is no longer an activity dedicated only to kids, but a lifelong task for career training and personal development. The three foremost ancestors of this theory Dewey, Lewin and Piaget shared the common view that people do learn from their experience, that is, experience plays a central role in learning process.
