Librarian Role

Coordinator, CIS and Library Outreach: Manage education activities including single-session class requests from teaching faculty (Course Integrated Seminars or CIS), tours and orientation sessions, and faculty training; teach CIS sessions for a variety of disciplines.

Collection Development: Act as selector and liaison to departments of Philosophy & Religion, Classics, secondarily for History. Select new materials for library collections in support of academic programs, manage collection for optimal quality, and serve as liaison for communication with respective departments.

Reference: Serve at the main reference desk for the library; assist students, faculty and campus community members in their research endeavors.

Ongoing research on the history of western university and college libraries, from their development to support education in the earliest medieval universities to the present. Examination of library size, usage, impact on culture with notes on information overload and contemporary information retrieval theory compared with historical patterns of information usage and knowledge production.
