We have two species of Laccaria in the Hawaiian Islands: L. laccata var. pallidifolia , illustrated here, ectotrophically associated with various species of pines in conifer plantations throughout the Islands; and L. fraterna (Sacc.) Pegler, a smaller, two-spored species associated with Eucalyptus . In several pine plantations, the only ectotrophic epigeous agaric we have encountered is L. laccata var. pallidifolia.
