We have collected at least six distinct species of Psathyrella in the Hawaiian Islands. Three of these are quite common at Koke`e State Park on Kaua`i, including the one illustrated. Although presently undetermined, this species is distinct because of the strongly rugulose-corrugated, honey brown pileus, a submembranous partial veil that remains as an appendiculate margin, and growth on endemic koa (Acacia koa A. Gray).
