E-business

The term electronic business (e-business) was coined in 1997 to refer to the use of Web technologies to improve productivity and efficiency in businesses. Since then, the term has come to be accepted by many businesses, academics, and practitioners as encompassing all electronically-based business activities. E-business is sometimes used interchangeably with the term e-commerce when e-commerce is viewed in its broadest sense of encompassing all activities associated with a commercial transaction. E-business includes electronic supply chain management, electronic customer relationship management, electronic human resource management, and electronic support for other activities of a business.
