Pre-Nursing Post-Bac Program - Application Now Available
We will begin a 15-month (4 semester: summer, fall, spring, summer) Pre-Nursing Post-Bac Program in early June, 2012. This Program will admit a cohort of 20-60 pre-nursing students who have already earned their Bachelor's degree, but who still need to take or retake some or all of the nursing school pre-requisite course work. Nursing school pre-requisite ourses will cost $600 per unit and electives will cost $500 per unit. Limited financial aid is available in the form of federal and private loans. The immediate goal of our Pre-Nursing Post-Bac Program is to prepare these students to be strong applicants to US nursing schools.

Deadline: February 15, 2012. Late applications for starting in summer 2012 will be considered if space is available. A small number of fall 2012 transfers are now also being considered.

Pre-Nursing Summer Advising Course
In an effort to serve the large population of pre-nursing students in the SF Bay Area, the Formal Post-Bac Program at SFSU is offering a low-cost 2-unit Pathways to Nursing course to be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-11 am, from June 18 to August 10, 2012 (8 weeks). , and is intended to serve a broad spectrum of pre-nursing students. Its goal is to provide effective career advising to pre-nursing students by faculty from the SFSU School of Nursing. This course is independent of our Pre-Nursing Post-Bac Program described above, and will be open to any and all interested pre-nursing students, either undergraduates or post-bacs. The course will cost $100 per unit, $200 total. We held Pathways to Nursing last summer (2011) for a group of 18 students.

Pre-Nursing Information Session at SFSU (4/13/11)
On Wednesday, April 13, 5-7 pm, we held a Pre-Nursing Information Session at SFSU. During this session, Dr. Andrea Renwanz-Boyle, a faculty member of the SFSU School of Nursing, provided general information on the four main types of nursing programs offered in California and the requirements needed to apply to each. Dr. Boyle and Dr. Rothman also highlighted the upcoming Pre-NursingSummer Advising Course (Pathways to Nursing) and Pre-Nursing Post-Bac Program (see above).
