Cell Biology - Biol 350 Extra Credit

Literature Assignments - One or two short, literature assignments will be made which will be turned in and can influence your grade in a positive manner. Check the Workbook for the assignment. Further details will be provided in class.

From the following current journals, peruse, find an Original Research Article (Review Articles or "Zipgrams" are not acceptable), and prepare a one (1) page summary of the article:

Journal of Cell Biology
Journal of Cell Science
1. Current journals means:  published during the last year and found in the current periodicals on the second floor of the J P Leonard Library.
2. Photocopy the article and submit one copy with your summary. A summary format of your own choice is acceptable, but I suggest that you use the style of:  Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, and Discussion that is used in most scientific presentations.  A paragraph devoted to each is suggested.
3. Please understand what was done, but streamline the methods so you will have room for the important Results and Discussion/Conclusion(s).
4. Think of the report as an executive summary that must be in your own words.

While the Literature Assignment is due on October 30, 2001, I'll accept it earlier.
