Instructions on accessing course reading material on Electronic Reserves and Databases:

On Electronic Reserves:
  1. Go to the SFSU Library webpage:
  2. Towards the bottom right of the page you should see a purple-colored box with a series of links in it. Click on the link for “Electronic Reserves.”
  3. This will take you to a new page; click on the link that says, “Electronic Reserves & Reserves Pages.”
  4. This will take you to yet another page which will allow to select the course material. In the pull-down menu you can access the course material by any of the following (after making your selection, click “Search”):
  5. After selecting the course via one of these four options, you’ll be taken to a new page where you should find a link that will direct to the appropriate course material. Click on the appropriate course.
  6. A new page will appear regarding “copyright,” in the blank space type in the course password and click “Accept.” Note that the password is case-sensitive. 
  7. After clicking “Accept,” you’ll be taken to the course material. Locate the appropriate reading and click on it. It should download onto your computer in the PDF format. 
Return to the home page.

On databases:

  1. Go to the SFSU Library webpage:
  2. Click on the link that says, “Find Articles & Databases”
  3. A new screen will appear allowing you to select a database. You can select a database via the list of all databases, the subject, or by typing in the database’s name and clicking “Go.”
  4. You should be taken to an intermediate page with a link for the database. Click the link. 
  5. (If you’re accessing this material off-campus skip this step and go to #6). If you access this page via a computer on the SFSU campus, or if you’re accessing this material through the SFSU Server, you should be taken to the database and you can begin your search for the appropriate material. 
  6. If you’re access this page at home and are using something other than the SFSU Server (e.g., AOL) you’ll be asked to do some additional steps (this is due to licensing agreements between the database and SFSU). You’ll be asked to enter your (after entering the necessary information click on “Submit”):
  7. If you’ve entered all the above information correctly, you should be navigated to the database. From the database you can begin your search for the appropriate course material.
