4. The instructor may require an essay test, conference, or other means of verifying acceptable progress and/or performance on the final..
5. A total of nine hours of work per week is usual and required, for a three unit course.

B - mastery of all units plus B (81-89) on final.
C - mastery of all units plus C (71-79) on final  (Required for CR grade)

W - Only for serious and compelling reason and by a petition signed by Nov. 14 during office hours.   After that, (usually only if withdrawing from the university), and requires documentation of accident or serious illness.
Mastery of all units must be demonstrated by Nov. 30 . Borderline grades may be adjusted up or down depending on meeting course requirements, interest, progress, etc.

FINAL COMPREHENSIVE EXAM:  As soon as all units are mastered, the final may be taken when during any Wednesday afternoon only in EP306 by appointment. The final is comprehensive. Bring pencil with eraser on top and photo ID. No detailed feedback on final. Three forms should be taken; the last one no later than Dec. 19. Grade is highest of any forms taken. An oral verification may be required.
