COURSE PROCEDURES:
This is a mastery level, online course. Students may finish the course early. Students must maintain contact with instructor and have a SFSU email account to receive any class announcements or changes in the course. Course materials are online. For students having difficulty, the instructor will provide assistance during office hours.
1. One unit or more per week is required by showing mastery on ILearn electronic tests.
2. All unit tests need to be mastered before the final exam is taken.
3. Mastery is 90% right. If less than that on the electronic test, then review your errors, restudy the unit, and request a different form of the test from the instructor, but not later than a week following the electronic test. There are two additional multiple choice tests available via email.
4. The instructor may require an essay test, conference, or other means of verifying acceptable progress and/or performance on the final..
5. A total of nine hours of work per week is usual and required, for a three unit course.

GRADING: Course grade is final exam grade (best score of any or all forms attempted) assuming all other things are equal (e.g. mastery of unit tests, keeping on schedule, etc.)
A - mastery of all units plus A (91-100) on final.
B - mastery of all units plus B (81-89) on final.
C - mastery of all units plus C (71-79) on final  (Required for CR grade)
D - mastery of all units plus D (61-69) on final . (NC grade)
F- regardless of units mastered, if final exam grade is F (below 61). Additional time or alternative work is not provided.
INC - Not given, except where all units have been mastered and there is a documented accident or illness which prevents student from getting to campus to take at least one form of final during scheduled time.
W - Only for serious and compelling reason and by a petition signed by Nov. 14 during office hours.   After that, (usually only if withdrawing from the university), and requires documentation of accident or serious illness.
Mastery of all units must be demonstrated by Nov. 30 . Borderline grades may be adjusted up or down depending on meeting course requirements, interest, progress, etc.

FINAL COMPREHENSIVE EXAM:  As soon as all units are mastered, the final may be taken when during any Wednesday afternoon only in EP306 by appointment. The final is comprehensive. Bring pencil with eraser on top and photo ID. No detailed feedback on final. Three forms should be taken; the last one no later than Dec. 19. Grade is highest of any forms taken. An oral verification may be required. Check the "Final Exam" link (added here when ready for final) for information on how to study, review, prepare, take the final, etc. Messages to SFSU email addresses will contain any changes that may occur.
