Chapter 10 – Symbolizing map features and creating map layouts

Chapter 10 focuses on GIS operations to create properly symbolized maps and good map layouts. It describes how to symbolize points, lines, and polygons, symbolize choropleth maps with color ramps, and create effective dot density maps. Chapter 10 describes the Modifiable Area Unit Problem (MAUP) and how to deal with it. The final part of chapter 10 describes the art and science of map making.
