Chapter 9 – Spatial equality and regional integration with GIS and
data visualization

Chapter 9 is the opening substantive chapter in Part III of Think Globally, Act Regionally—"Promoting spatial eqity and regional integration with GIS and data visualization." Using data from Southern New Jersey, chapter 9 describes geographic segregation by income and race, both in communities and in schools. It describes different forms spatial inequality can assume such as municipal fiscal and service inequality and inequality in access to quality education and affordable housing. For each type of inequality, chapter 9 describes how spatial analysis and data visualization can increase spatial equality and regional integration.
