Kirchberg Coat of Arms

It has been said that most German families throughout the world with the surname "Layher" or "Layer" emigrated from the lovely German town of Kirchberg on the Murr River in the Rems-Murr District (Wuerttemberg region near Stuttgart). We share a common ancestor from that area, Georg Layher (born April 16, 1617 - died December 16, 1692). One of his great-great-grandsons, Georg Jacob Layher (born 1772 - died 1827) served as Mayor of Kirchberg/Murr).

This Webpage is an attempt to provide convenient access to websites of the Kirchberg Layher and Layer families, including key companies and enterprises with which they are affiliated.

Additions and recommendations are welcome. Of special interest is any information regarding the emigration of Frederick Layher and family on the John Gossler Ship under Captain Fairfowl in 1846. Additional genealogical information about this family branch, including Frederick Layer, David Layer, Fredericka Layer, Rosina Layer, and Gotlieb Gugeler is at:
