CSU system-wide license for ESRI products

Since 1969, ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) has been giving customers around the world the power to think and plan geographically. The market leader in GIS, ESRI software is used in more than 300,000 organizations worldwide including each of the 200 largest cities in the United States, most national governments, more than two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies, and more than 7,000 colleges and universities. ESRI applications, running on more than one million desktops and thousands of Web and enterprise servers, provide the backbone for the world’s mapping and spatial analysis. ESRI provides complete technical solutions for desktop, mobile, server, and Internet platforms. Visit ESRI at www.esri.com.

Site licenses for software products from ESRI are a major benefit included in the CSUGIS Specialty Center subscription. The software may be used by Faculty, Administrators, and students. Each CSU campus has a site license administrator.

Single-use software

The single-use licensed copies of ArcGIS for Desktop, version 10.1 or 10.2, run on a single machine not server. This software is available to Faculty, Staff and students. In order to activate the authorization number an ESRI Global Account is required. These registration numbers are used to generate a license file that is valid for one year

The technical representative or board member at each campus has a login and password for ESRI Customer Care Portal where they may generate an unlimited number of licenses and download software. As of March of 2016, support tickets may be opened through a separate My ESRI Portal for the CSU.
