MCAT, DAT and GRE Prep Courses

SFSU does not offer preparation courses for the MCAT, DAT, or most other national standardized tests. Such courses are available from private companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. The cost of a typical MCAT or DAT course is about $1,800, but some significant discounts are available to disadvantaged students. The three major players in the San Francisco Bay Area are Kaplan Test Prep, the Princeton Review and the Berkeley Review. Recent arrivals to the field include: CLEaRS, which offers an online study program for the MCAT, and ExamKrackers, which offers live classes in a limited number of locations (but not San Francisco as of now) and well regarded printed review material and practice tests. The WikiPremed MCAT Course is an essentially no-cost, open-source MCAT prep program that was rolled out in early 2010.

GRE Prep Courses: SFSU offers Bobrow GRE prep courses at an affordable price through its College of Extended Learning, and a small, local company, Testing For The Public, offers low-fee GRE prep classes.

For an extensive list of companies offering standardized test preparation in the SF Bay Area, see SFSU Testing Center's Test Preparation web page.
