COURSE PROCEDURES:
This is a mastery level, individualized, online course. Students may work ahead and finish the course early, but may not fall behind deadline dates. Students must maintain contact with instructor and have a SFSU email account to receive any class announcements or changes in the course. Course materials are online. For students having difficulty, the instructor will provide assistance in the office. Prerequisite is 15 upper division psychology units completed. Additional information in on web pages.
1. Study the online course materials (text, exercises, progress check tests) for each of 10 units.
2. Take the ILearn unit tests for each unit before but not later than the due dates. No extensions or substitutions (e.g. computer problems etc.). All units need to be mastered before the final exam is taken.
3. Mastery is 80% right . If less than that (between 65-80) on the ILearn test, then restudy the unit, and request a different form of the test from the instructor, but not later than a week following the ILearn test. There are two additional multiple choice tests for mastery, available via email request .
4. Additional time available for disabled students on the final, which is given only by and in instructor's office, according to schedule and without aids.
5. Even though mastery is shown, the instructor may require an essay test, conference, etc. to verify acceptable progress.
6. A total of nine hours of course work per week is required (typical for a three unit course).

GRADING: Course grade is the final exam grade (best score of any forms attempted) if all other things are equal (e.g. mastery of unit tests, keeping on schedule, etc.) Borderline grades might be adjusted up or down. Unit test averages are not used in calculation of course grade.
A - mastery of all units plus A (91-100) on final.
B - mastery of all units plus B (81-89) on final.
C - mastery of all units plus C (71-79) on final .
D - mastery of all units plus D (61-69) on final .
F- regardless of units mastered, if final exam grade is F (below 61). Extra credit work is not available.
INC - Not given, except where all units have been mastered and there is a documented accident or illness which prevents student from getting to campus to take a form of the final during scheduled time.
W - Only for serious and compelling (generally documented) reason and by a petition signed by Nov. 19   After that, (usually only if withdrawing from the university), and requires documentation of accident or serious illness.

FINAL COMPREHENSIVE EXAM:  The final may be taken when and if all units are mastered. It is given only by instructor and in his office, during any Wednesday afternoon 2-4 PM, by appointment. Bring only pencil with eraser on top and photo ID. No detailed feedback on final. Three forms may be taken (only one per week) to improve grade; the last one no later than Dec. 17 during finals week. Grade is highest of any forms taken. An oral verification may be required. Check the "Final Exam" link (available when ready for final) which contains information on how to study, review, prepare, and take the final, etc. Any changes will appear online and/or in messages to SFSU email addresses .
